Dear Friends,

Hello again from Tanzania! We had our first ever staff leaders seminar a week ago. As you can see from Gidoris' spontaneous testimony, we were really encouraged by Tim Neet and Godsave as they helped strengthen us for the future ...

"Hi Friends, I hope you are all fit. I am really excited with the Seminar. As a Soldier, I feel that I am fully equipped, ready for the battle!  Bless you all as you celebrate the Imara birth. ..... I really want to thank the Lord for this Seminar. My eyes were opened in the area of working as a team. ..... I can see now this as a turning point for our Ministry in general to perform to synergy. The name of our ministry has been changed from ETF to IMARA, I believe the IMARA will be firm as the word implies to itself. [Imara is a Swahili word means firm]. I believe that this Ministry will be strong for we have started by building in strong foundations under the leadership of our brother, Pastor Mike Rothery....... I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to the Facilitators, Tim Neet, Godsave, Mike and to my fellow students."

Lyndall and Esther hope to expand their AIDS ministry to 'teach AIDS teachers' since they realise what they do is scratching the surface of the problem. They have many requests for ministry to villages- but they are thinking it might be better that they enable others to do the job they are doing now. Pray with them for the facilities. [See more news from Esther below]

Godsave is doing really well in Karanse- I was really encouraged when we shared with the PUNCHMI committee last week- they are really keen to bless their village. They were able to buy 7 acres for the widows maize growing a few weeks ago and are now preparing it for planting. The sewing class you see here is going great- all round I know if you were able to be with us you would have been so blessed by what is coming together there!

We will soon have our own office!! We are really thankful to folks from the US who have got behind us and we are buying the place we are living/officing in right now.  It is ideally situated for Imara ministry and is has been our office and house for the past ten years. But home life is a bit difficult these days [Imara has encroached on two of our bedrooms already- the ladies will understand Lyndall has been very patient with us] so Lyndall and I will rent elsewhere soon once we find a place/rent suitable. [If you are a builder, we hope to slowly refurbish the place and perhaps build other rooms in the future.]

Prayer points:

  • Arusha Pastors Fellowship Monday
  • We have MANY overseas teams this year- I think it is 10 groups. 1500 Leaders and many villages will be blessed with their coming as they share ministry with Tanzanian ministry . Pray for our teams that we do this job well.
  • Provision, provision, provision!
  • The Imara team
  • Alan Cook-  Alan needs serious prayer for his health.

All for now. Bless you much and thanks again for standing with us,

Mike & Lyndall

More from Esther on AIDS...

VISITATION. Salma whom we visited and led her to the Lord, as she was a Moslem, went to be with the Lord triumphantly on 30th Dec.2003. It is quite encouraging to think that, if we didn’t reach her then, what would have been her fate after all what she was going through?. Her Moslem relatives tried so had to have her renounce her faith in Christ at her terminal condition but she stood to the bitter end, she was buried a believer in the Lord.

We met pastor Kennedy at Usa-river during the seminar he shared his testimony with us that he was a former HIV/AIDS victim and was healed miraculously in 1995. He married in 1997; he now has 2 healthy children. In his church he has committed himself to minister to AIDS victims. They attend the church regularly for prayers and counselling from 1997. Among 25 victims he had, 6 have been confirmed cured completely through prayers, and the others are continuing with prayers unceasingly. The number he has there is about 45 now, so we encouraged him and gave him some vitamins to help the victims as well as our commitment to visit them regularly. We could only offer them some painkillers and vitamins to help them cope with the symptoms. Also we prayed for them.

Prayer requests 1.Pray for pastor Kennedy who committed himself to minister to AIDS victims. 2.Pray for the coming seminars this month we have two seminars. a. Teachers b. Music instruments c. Transport d. Health
