GRRRRRReetings from Tanzania!!

There have been so many blessings happenings in Imara this past 3 weeks..... frankly it is hard to keep up with!

It wonderful to hear the voice of God speaking to you through many sources- He loves us as Sons and speaks to us strengthen us. Among our many visitors lately we have had Stephen Cullen from NZ and Peter and Tammy Russell from US. Both came to our pastors and leaders seminars.... and both had some time with our Imara team. God reminded us to through them independently to make sure we hold onto our "First Love" in our busy-ness. I believe it was His word for us at this time when so much has been going on and it is so easy to forget that He wants US! [you and me]
Our hearts!
Us choosing relationship with Him.... above anything else! He wants to know YOU and me.... closely, intimately!! How sad it would be if, in all our work we missed coming to know Him as our friend? I think it is a trap we can all fall into so thanks Stephen, Peter and Tammy for being faithful to seek Him for us- it has been a timely reminder and I pray will bear fruit.

Since I wrote last, two teams have been with us from Perimeter led by Carolyn Bahr and Tim and Vicki Neet. The kids at Karanse, Widows [or 'Special Ladies' as we now refer to them as] and school were as always over the moon about their visit. For me the highlight of these two teams was to see parents with their children working together. Bill and Mary Lou are working here together sharing with 5-600 youth. When the families visited the special ladies and their children, there was a new dynamic of ministry took place because of the visiting children relating to the local children. Thanks for coming all of you!! The other huge side blessing from the large youth seminar was that churches from Pentecostal, Baptist and Lutheran denominations ALL CAME TOGETHER - all under one roof! God helped us in opening doors for this to happen and the seminar has set groundwork for the pastors to work together in the future. A miracle in itself-  please be praying for the churches in Shangarai area!

A new school is being opened up in a nearby village called Likamba. Here Pastor Elirehema is 'ground breaking'. John and Candace [see last update] have kindly arranged to sponsor the start of this project and have been actively helping us set the foundations, arranging teachers etc etc and more etceteras. Pastor Elirehema has been waiting on a brick making machine to be finished so the church can start on the first widows house donated from Australia. Some things you have to be patient with over here!

Esther will fill you in on a bit of Lyndalls AIDS work......

"We had an opportunity to teach at the Baptist University, which is located at about 8 km from Arusha town. off Arusha –Nairobi road. They kept quiet listening to Lyndall teaching about HIV/AIDS.  I thank God because some of them came to the office asking for more books and materials to make flannel graph and a board. One of the students came after 2 days and the second one after one week. They told me that; “ I like the way Lyndall has presented the teaching by using flannel graph and umbrella. I felt like somebody was pushing me from where I am to the front. Can I have some notes please so that when I finish my study I can teach my people in the village?”

News of us? We move house on the 19th July. It will be a bit of a sigh of relief really because things are pretty busy in our 'house/office'. The rent is pretty good for Arusha and we are really looking forward [you don't know how much!] to moving into some seclusion and privacy.  [Since our house was bought for Imara offices, some restoration has started as you can see by the painting on the roof by Carolyn's team!]

Its been great having Sharon with us- at least some of the time! She spends a bit of time with Peter - he's a great young guy from South Africa and running a Chinese Restaurant here. For some strange reason he wants to move to Australia- I wonder why?! Josh starts a surveying job in Perth soon and Sharon and Kirsty will continue their studies.

Prayer points:

  • Special thanks for the Ozzies who got behind Lyndall and I this month- we appreciate it very much.

  • Sanya Juu seminar with 200 pastors and 100 women's leaders starts next week- pray for us all.

  • Many new projects will be coming online this next year. Pray for committed & called staff to help us with these.

Blessings and thanks,

Mike & Lyndall
