 April 2005

Greetings again from Tanzania!

It seems such a short time ago that we left for Australia, returned, and nearly 5 weeks are gone already! Whats been going on? Well I’ll share a bit from my point of view!

Australia - Gidoris first flight!

When we took of from Nairobi, it was a good job Gidori was strapped in! He grabbed me not sure what sure of what was going on as we started to fly!! We had warned him to go to the bathroom before the flight [J] but forgot to say there would be a few bumps when we took off. The rest of the trip was great for him though. He couldn’t believe how few people there are in Australia, nor the way we are incredibly blessed. But his family and home country called him and he was ready to leave half way through! He is going great guns here again and glad to be back.

Thanks to Roger, Mark and Ian we had a great time in Newcastle. Thanks everyone over there for receiving us so well and we look forward to seeing some of you over here as you are able to come to the Mwika project. [see last update]

Over in WA it was great to catch up with supporting friends. Again thanks for receiving us and standing with us!!

And of course it was wonderful to catch up with our family in Oz!! Its great to have Josh back with us for his Rift Valley Academy Alumni. Kirsty is going on with her nursing and Sharon is helping us and studying part time via the internet…[ isn’t it incredible!!]

Dareda Discipleship – Excitement to start

Dareda was a strategic time for our discipleship program. I was grieved yesterday when I read about the things that go on in one nearby country as far as promiscuity goes. Seems there is a tradition that allows for just about any excuse for sex you can think of!!  The problem is, unless there is a real life change by the word of God in peoples lives, the church is NO different!!

Do we want to play at being Gods people? For me I don’t have time to mess around. Pray for us that as friends stand with us we will be able to help bring strength to the church here by helping the leaders ‘make disciples’ [not converts] as Jesus commanded us to do!!

HIV/AIDS trainee village health workers – session two.

There are great testimonies coming through from the first group Lyndall and Esthers team trained in February. One lady has two hundred AIDS victims her church is looking out for now. Pray for this second group. They are now at the Mwika project area for the last week of the 3 week course conducting their first seminar together [along with a crusade at the same time!!]

Dareda Pastors – Unity coming strong

Jones, Msuya and myself were at Dareda again for a local leadership seminar. It was a privilege to be with such hungry leaders again. But it takes time for the Word of God to really have effect. Pray with these guys because they have a major hassle amongst two of them that is causing division- but they are determined to get through it for the sake of the body of Christ. Pray for His grace and love to help them win through.

A Team’

I was at a local church with Jones recently [Teaching on Moses and Joshua above]. The leaders in the area wanted encouragement on how they can walk together. But I am one man, and our team is small compared to the need. What’s the answer? We plan to call together an ‘A Team’ of key local Pastors to help. We will teach them, encourage them, and release them to the body of Christ to in turn encourage, teach…. Do whatever it takes to strengthen those that are hungry. Pray with us to win out on this for 2005/06.

Mairoa launch

Many Mairoa children [300]are about to be sponsored for help. This will take place in May so pray everything goes well as this new project starts.

Prayer:

*      We are a bridge between Tanzania and overseas. [A local friend had that as a revelation from the Lord the other day- though we have long known it. ] Pray for a person or people to help Lyndall and I be a better bridge and fulfill the rest of our call at the same time.

*      We have a lot of teams coming in May/June/July this year. Pray for them and pray for us to help them minister effectively here.

1.      May:
