Bashunet - November 2000

On the top of the rift valley near Dareda we met with 50 to 60 leaders in this village of Bashunet. Things were a bit disorganised- not unusual for village situations.

Moving the gear
The gear was carried to the nearby church- this is how our equipment is transported when I am not around! Our team often travels by bus to remote villages and then it is carred or biked to the outreach site. A few weeks ago an Ox cart was used!

Gidori helped me teach discipleship issues and he was very appreciated. The locals prefer me to preach in Swahili now- even though I am not very good- so Gidori helped me there as well with some words I could not remember.

At the end of the seminar, Pastor Bilauri stood and encouraged us:

"I knew Pastor Mike for a long time now. The first days when He came in our areas he was speaking English being translated by his Intrepetor. But now Pastor Mike speaks our national language Swahili which we really enjoy when he is teaching to us directly and not passing through anybody else. The messages which I got this time were the encouraging ones and reminding me of how to be a good and effective Shepherd ."

Mama Dasham told us with great enthusiasm......

"This Pastors' & Leaders' Seminar has given me another step to move on forward. God has a good plans for our life in this Earth." Mama Dasham is a Chairperson for Womens' group at Bashanet area. She continues to say, "The lessons I received in this Seminar were the ones putting me to stay in a right track, to be humble, Living in the Tree of Life daily, expecting to receive my rewards from the Lord of Lords one day, etc. We have priviledge to have this kind of Seminar.

At the market, the 'boys' posed in front of the local parking lot- many many bikes!

There were literally thousands of people there.

This lady was working hard at making ugali- a staple diet made from maize meal.

Others shared their encouragement with us. Gidori translates: "Im very glad for having this Pastors' & Leaders' Seminar for this year for it has made some differences and changes in my own life." This is what Pastor Michael of Gusse Assembly says at the end of Pastors' & Leaders' Seminar which was conducted at Bashenet from 1st November- 5th November 2000.

He carries on and says,"Some of the Topics were new to me, though some of them I knew them but I was really challenged since practical application was not being applied in my life. I believe the congregation in my Home Church will enjoy these teachings as I shall be conveying to them when I go back home.We have wepons to defeat our enemy Satan, but sometimes we don't use it or either we misuse it. For instance I've come to realise now that I have to teach my People about LIFE and NOT condemnation."
