Matui, August 2006

Greetings from the Rotherys!

Gidori and I just came back from a "child" of the leadership work we started last year in Kondoa. It has been so long since I sent out anything to you all, I thought I would send Gidoris report with our prayer requests and thanks.

We had such a great time at Matui with hungry leaders who begged us to come back. What more could someone want who is burdened to encourage the leadership of the church in Tanzania? Pray for us as we seek to catalyse the release of the father ministry as a TWW [Tanzania Wide Web] to the church of Tanzania; to help them build disciples who have a God given worldview tailor made by His Spirit for Africa so they can build for Him day after day after day after day. Here is Gidoris report.......

" Where is Matui?

Matui is in Kiteto Region. It is 373km South of Arusha and 127 km East of Kondoa. We had about 9hrs drive in a rough desert road before reaching Matui.

We were warmly welcomed by our hosts at Matui. The whole Pastors committee was there waiting eagerly for us. We decided to stay in one of the believers’ house; Moses and his family were so keen to receive us.

The people are so happy despite of the kind of life they are living. Some of the houses they live are what we call mbavu za mbwa “dog’s ribs”

We decided to go there because of the invitation from the Pastors committee. This is after some of the Pastors attending one of our seminars at Kondoa last yr. hearing some of our good teachings there.

We started our seminar with about 55 Leaders for 2 days. The 3rd day we decided to open the door for all people for we heard that even Moslems were asking to come to the Seminar. This is when we started showing film in the night; the whole villages were so excited telling others what was happening in that village. We could not hinder them to come.

Mike is teaching about the Purpose of the Church. They had group discussion about the purpose of the church before and after the teachings. The feedback after the teachings was so healthy!

What do you have in your hand? Gidori is demonstrating what God told Moses in the wilderness.[Exodus 4:2]

What recourses do you have? God wants to use what you have right now to bless you, your church and the community.

“I liked your message. It is stupid that we are not fully using the resources which God has given us”. One Pastor told me just after the service.

Mike is teaching about pride and humility. The big enemy of many Church leaders in Tanzania.

Film show in the night.

Pastor Benson Ruta preaching in the night during the film show. Children loves the film and they were good ambassadors to tell their parents “Come and see….

When the alter call was made to invite Jesus as their personal savior, they ALL raised their hands and confess Jesus with a loud voice.

About 2000 people attended the film show for 3 days. Some of them followed Jesus Christ!

Showers of blessings from Matui Church to Imara

Finally, a heavy prayer was made for Imara Ministry foundation. The  people of Matui blessed us by their finances and their materials too!

This time I did not go back home to my family with a gift of “dirty clothes.” My wife and children received me with “something” on my hand from Matui people.

May God bless them and the work at Matui!"

Well thats how it was...... we hope to work with these leaders, the 'child' of Kondoa, on a regular basis.

Prayer points:

  • Lyndall and I are really thankful to have been able to buy the house and land you see here. We so appreciate those that have sacrificed to help us. There is alot to do, but we have a great start and plan to move there in January if we can get everything sorted out.

  • We are about to review our HIV/AIDS work with Elizabeth from US. Pray we hear together the way forward to help the churches here to care for he sick in their communities.

  • Josh and Lyndall go to Australia to be with Kirsty for 5 weeks. Pray with Kirsty for health, Josh as he seeks an electricians apprenticeship.

  • Our fourwheel is still in dock. Insurance claims out of Kenya are slow in being processed I guess.... thats what we pray anyway. Its doesn't look like it, but its a big repair job. Pray with us!

  • We are needing some long term overseas people help still. Pray for the right people, with the right call to come and join us. There are some folks coming to 'test the waters'. Pray Gods will be done for them.

  • Generally that we have wisdom from God on how to strengthen the work of the church into their communities in this land- that they truly be salt and light. 'Let His will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven".
